Voluntary Certification Program

Why Voluntary Certification ?

ARTA, Inc. feels that a Voluntary Certification program is the first step in improving the overall safety within the industry. All test results taken via this Web Site are kept CONFIDENTIAL and are only released upon request by the person who completed the test. Business Owners may also benefit from this program as it allows the Owner to assess the overall Technical knowledge of the Technician or Operator tested. The Business test program is somewhat different and requires the Owner/Employer to administer the test in a controlled enviroment. The results are then sent back to the employer for review..

Our research indicates that many of our Ammonia based refrigeration systems are being operated by Operator/Technicians, with mechanical skills to repair and maintain an operating systems, but lack the Technical knowledge required to support and trouble shoot problems and situations before they occur. Knowing how to fix it is only half of the required knowledge. Technicians, Owners and Operators should have a certain Technical knowledge about Ammonia based systems and finding out that your Freon experience left you a little short could be the last mistake you make.. It's up to you!

Being in charge of an Ammonia based system is a very large responsibility, as I am sure you are aware of! But are you aware of the fact that if something goes really wrong with the system you are in charge of that besides a lot of finger pointing your Technical system knowledge may be Questioned. What you say! that's right and most States hold the Operator and the Owner liable for incidents that have caused loss of life. So are you really willing to go to prison !!

As the old guy retired that use to run the system he was asked to train someone on how to operate the plant "Is this You!".. he taught you what buttons to push and how to start the system up, and gave you the number of several refrigeration contractors to call if you got in trouble. But the contractor is not the Operator "YOU ARE" ..! This information has not been placed here to scare you into taking the test, we have no real control over what you do. But the information is fact not fiction, check it out for yourself. Then maybe a Voluntary Certification program will sound like a very smart idea! ARTA works with you and for you, we can't protect you from the high priced lawyers or stop someone from taking you to court, but we can assist you in developing better safety and technical abilities which can only assist you and others. This is our goal and has been from day One..
